Floors for Wokingham Properties

LIGNORA supplies wood floors across Wokingham (RG40 and RG41) — covering Victorian and Edwardian properties in the town, large family homes in the surrounding Wokingham Borough area, and newer developments near the stations. We post free samples anywhere in Wokingham and talk through your subfloor before you order.

Wokingham's family market and Victorian terraces in the town centre are good candidates for floor restoration — original boards in these properties are often well-preserved under fitted carpet.

The most popular floors in Wokingham are Victorian board restoration in period properties, wide-plank engineered oak in family homes, and herringbone in period hallways. Every order comes with full care and fitting guidance. Lead times from 2–3 weeks for pre-finished stock; 8 weeks for bespoke made-to-order floors.

Common Questions

Do you deliver to Wokingham?

Yes. We deliver the full collection to Wokingham and across Berkshire by pallet, with free samples posted first. Want it fitted too? Tell us about your project and we'll talk you through the options. We respond to every enquiry within one working day.

Is the floor compatible with underfloor heating?

The short answer for Wokingham homes is yes: engineered oak performs reliably over underfloor heating. We specify 14–18mm boards for the best balance of warmth transfer and stability. Solid timber is excluded; compatibility is always documented before installation begins.

Can I use my own fitter?

Yes. We'll recommend the right adhesive, underlay and trims for your subfloor, and send the technical sheets your fitter needs before the floor arrives.

Wokingham homes and their floors

Wokingham has Victorian and Edwardian houses in the town centre, large family homes in surrounding villages such as Finchampstead and Winnersh, and big new developments such as Montague Park and Arborfield Green.

New-builds have screed floors, often with underfloor heating, suited to glued engineered oak once the screed is dry. Victorian houses need preparation over joists. Families often choose durable finishes in light and natural oak.

How soon can I lay wood flooring in a new Wokingham home?

Only once the screed is dry enough, which a moisture reading will confirm. Fitting on damp screed is the most common cause of new floors failing.

Wood floor installation in Wokingham

Many customers in Wokingham order supply only and have their own fitter lay the floor. If you'd like us to fit it, tell us about your project. These are the steps we recommend for any installation.

Survey and moisture checkCheck the subfloor for moisture before the floor is ordered. Concrete and screed must be dry enough, and timber boards must be sound.
Subfloor preparationLevel and repair the subfloor and add a damp-proof membrane or primer where needed. Let the boards acclimatise in the room for two to three days before fitting.
The right fitting methodChoose the method for the subfloor: glue-down over concrete and underfloor heating, floating installation over the right underlay, or secret nailing onto timber. Herringbone and parquet blocks should be glued down.
Skirting, trims and thresholdsFinish with matching skirting boards, thresholds, trims and stair nosings. We can supply these with your floor.
Specification in writingWe put the recommended adhesive, underlay and fitting method in writing with your quote, so your fitter has everything they need.
