Bespoke Wood Flooring

Bespoke Wood Flooring,
London.

When the standard range is the starting point rather than the answer. LIGNORA produces bespoke wood floors to commission — any width, any tone, any species, any finish. For clients whose project demands a floor designed around the room rather than adapted to fit it. Supplied and installed across London and the South East by our own team.

What Bespoke Means at LIGNORA
Not a Product.
A Commission.

Bespoke flooring at LIGNORA begins with a brief, not a catalogue. We work with the client — and with their architect or interior designer where relevant — to specify a floor that the standard range cannot produce. This might be a matter of width, of colour, of species, of pattern, or of all four together.

We produce bespoke floors through the same European mills that supply our standard collections, but to a specification that starts with your project. The construction is identical — engineered multi-ply core, real oak wear layer — but the surface, the dimensions, and the finish are yours.

Bespoke commissions are taken selectively. We take on the work we can do well, not everything we are asked to do. The starting point is always a conversation — tell us the brief, and we will tell you whether it is something we can achieve and what it costs.

What We Can Produce
Six Bespoke
Capabilities
01
Width Beyond the Standard Range

Our standard collections run to 190mm and 220mm. Bespoke commissions can produce engineered oak boards from 240mm to 400mm — widths not achievable in solid construction without significant movement risk. Particularly effective in large open-plan spaces, entrance halls, and rooms where the floor is the primary design element.

240mm–400mm available
02
Colour-Commissioned Stains

A floor stained to a precise colour reference — matched to a paint colour, a fabric swatch, an existing furniture finish, or a RAL/NCS reference. Applied to the oak wear layer before the surface treatment is applied. The tone is repeatable across the full floor and across future restoration work.

Matched to any colour reference
03
Medallions & Marquetry

Decorative inlays — geometric or figurative — produced to the geometry of the room. A floor medallion centred on a fireplace, a border inlay around the perimeter of a formal dining room, or a feature panel at the base of a staircase. Designed in conjunction with the client or their designer.

Designed to room geometry
04
Mixed Species

Floors that combine two or more timber species — alternating strips of oak and walnut, a walnut border around an oak field, or geometric insets in contrasting timber. The construction must be engineered throughout to prevent differential movement between species.

Oak · Walnut · Ash · on request
05
Non-Standard Formats

Square boards, unusually long runs (over 3000mm), herringbone blocks in non-standard dimensions, or formats designed to reference a specific historical precedent. If the brief is clear and the construction is achievable in engineered oak, we can produce it.

Any format from brief
06
Architectural Specifications

For new-build and significant renovation projects where the floor is being specified as part of a wider architectural brief. We join the conversation early, provide samples and product data for approval, and confirm lead times so the installation lands on programme.

The Process
How a Bespoke Commission
Works
01
Enquiry

Tell us the project — the property, the room, the brief, any reference material. We will respond with an honest view on whether it is achievable and what the process looks like.

02
Site Visit & Brief

We visit the property, measure the space, and discuss the brief in detail. For colour commissions, we bring initial sample candidates. For width commissions, we bring boards at relevant widths to assess scale in the room.

03
Sample & Quote

We produce a sample board to the specification before production begins. You assess it in the property. An itemised quote is provided covering materials, production and installation. No production begins until both are approved.

04
Production & Install

Production typically 4–8 weeks. Installation by our own team — the same people involved in the specification. For complex layouts, a detailed installation plan is prepared before work begins. Handover includes aftercare guidance specific to the finish specified.
