Genuinely reclaimed wood flooring — not a "reclaimed look" applied to a new board. Antique oak, Victorian pine, original parquet blocks sourced for their age, their markings, and the story that comes with them. Supplied and installed across London and the South East by our own team.
The term "reclaimed" is used loosely in the flooring industry. A board described as having a "reclaimed character finish" may simply be a new board that has been mechanically distressed. That is not what we supply.
Genuinely reclaimed timber carries the marks of a previous life — the saw cuts of an earlier century, the surface patina of decades of use, the checks and splits that come with natural movement over time. These characteristics cannot be replicated in a factory. They are the point.
Every board we supply as reclaimed has a verifiable source. We know where it came from — a demolished building, a cleared estate, an original installation removed during renovation. If we cannot verify the source, we do not call it reclaimed.
European oak salvaged from demolition — barn beams, old-growth floorboards, panelling. Wide widths unavailable in new stock, natural silver-grey or honey patina, and medullary ray figuring that only appears in old-growth timber. Lead time variable — assessed per project.
Original pitch pine and Scots pine floorboards from pre-1940 London and South East properties. Knotty, characterful, with the warmth that comes from decades of natural ageing. Often wider than modern equivalents. We restore and re-lay original boards or source matching reclaimed stock.
1920s–1960s finger-block parquet removed from period properties during renovation. Each batch is hand-sorted, cleaned, and assessed for condition before re-laying. For properties with original parquet already in place, we match replacement blocks from the same period stock.
No two batches of reclaimed timber are identical. Colour, width, and character vary within a delivery and between deliveries. Matching across a large area requires careful assessment — we recommend a site visit before committing to any reclaimed floor for rooms over 30m².
Reclaimed stock is not held in the same quantities as new product. Sourcing, sorting, and preparing reclaimed material takes 4–8 weeks from confirmed order. For projects with hard deadlines, we confirm availability at enquiry stage before any commitment is made.
Reclaimed timber is often more sensitive to moisture than new engineered product. Subfloor assessment, acclimatisation, and moisture testing are essential. We will not proceed with installation until readings confirm the conditions are correct for the material specified.
Many of our reclaimed projects also involve restoring existing flooring in adjacent rooms — matching the character of the reclaimed boards to what is already there. We carry out both in a single project, which avoids the join-up problems that come with using different contractors.
Reclaimed flooring is not always the right answer. For rooms requiring a very consistent appearance, or where the budget does not accommodate the extended lead times and preparation requirements, we will say so. We take on reclaimed projects because we do them well — not to fill a diary.
Reclaimed floors begin with a conversation, not a quote. Tell us the property, the room, and what you have in mind — we will tell you what is possible and whether we can source it.
