Plain English first: We collect your name, email, and phone number when you contact us or book a home visit. We use it to respond to your enquiry and arrange your visit. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything unrelated to your flooring project. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Who We Are

LIGNORA is a family-run wood flooring company operating across London and the South East. We supply and install engineered and solid wood flooring, carry out floor restoration, and provide staircase and joinery services. For the purposes of UK data protection law, LIGNORA is the data controller responsible for your personal information.

This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. It applies to data collected through this website (www.lignora.co.uk), by email, by telephone, and during home visits.

What We Collect

Information you give us directly

When you contact us through the website contact form, by email, or by phone, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (if provided)
  • Your address or postcode (to assess whether we cover your area)
  • Details of your flooring project (type of floor, approximate area, property type)
  • Any other information you choose to include in your message

Information we collect automatically

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect standard technical information including your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and how long you spend on each page. This is collected via cookies and similar technologies. See the Cookies section below for more detail.

Information we collect during a home visit

If you book a home visit, we will note details about your property relevant to your flooring project — subfloor type, room dimensions, existing floor condition, heating system. This forms part of your project record and is used solely to prepare your quote and carry out the installation.

How We Use It

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Respond to your enquiry
  • Arrange and carry out home visits
  • Prepare and send quotes
  • Manage your installation or restoration project
  • Contact you about follow-up visits or aftercare
  • Improve our website and services based on anonymised usage data

We do not use your personal data for direct marketing without your explicit consent. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

  • Contract performance: where processing is necessary to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, or carry out installation work you have engaged us for
  • Legitimate interests: where processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests (such as improving our services), provided those interests are not overridden by your rights
  • Legal obligation: where we are required to process data to comply with a legal obligation
  • Consent: where you have given explicit consent for a specific purpose, such as receiving marketing communications

Third Parties

We may share your information with the following categories of third parties, strictly for the purposes of delivering our service:

  • Formspree or equivalent form processors: to receive and deliver your contact form submissions to us securely
  • Email service providers: to manage and store our email correspondence
  • Google Analytics (if enabled): to understand website usage through anonymised and aggregated data

We do not share your data with any party not necessary to deliver our service. We require all third-party processors to handle your data securely and in compliance with UK GDPR.

We may be required to disclose your information to law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required to do so by law.

How Long We Keep It

We retain personal data for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, and in accordance with our legal obligations:

  • Enquiries that did not proceed to a project: deleted or anonymised within 12 months of last contact
  • Completed project records: retained for 6 years from project completion, in line with statutory limitation periods for contract disputes
  • Financial records: retained for 7 years as required by HMRC

You may request earlier deletion at any time — see Your Rights below.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Right of access: you can ask us what personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification: you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure: you can ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances
  • Right to restrict processing: you can ask us to stop processing your data in certain circumstances
  • Right to data portability: you can ask us to provide your data in a portable format
  • Right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Rights in relation to automated decision-making: we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
