Engineered or solid parquet?

Engineered parquet looks the same once laid and suits more homes.

Solid parquet blocks are oak all the way through; engineered blocks have a real oak surface on a stable multi-ply core. Once laid and finished they look the same, but engineered blocks move far less, so they suit concrete subfloors and underfloor heating, and can be sanded and refinished.

What is parquet flooring?

Parquet is wood flooring laid from small blocks in a repeating pattern, such as herringbone, chevron or geometric designs, rather than long planks.

Is herringbone the same as parquet?

Herringbone is one type of parquet pattern. Chevron and geometric designs are others.

Can parquet flooring go over underfloor heating?

Yes, engineered oak parquet is glued down over the heated screed and is suitable for underfloor heating.

Is engineered parquet real wood?

Yes. The surface of every block is solid oak; the core underneath gives it stability.
