The oiled Walnut Herringbone uses the same select-grade 125 × 600mm blocks as the lacquered version, but the UV oil gives a softer, more matt finish and a slightly cooler, greyer walnut tone. It looks more natural and understated. It suits studies, bedrooms and living rooms where you want walnut herringbone to feel relaxed rather than polished. Like every engineered floor we sell, Walnut Herringbone can go over underfloor heating, and our own installation team fits it in London and the surrounding counties.
The 125mm × 600mm blocks of this floor give a herringbone scaled for domestic rooms, at around 13.3 blocks to the square metre. Select grading keeps the surface refined — small, tight knots and even colour, a step calmer than classic without prime's austerity.
The finish, and living with it A floor is its finish as much as its tone: here the walnut herringbone UV oiled treatment sets how this floor handles daily life. Walnut Herringbone is oiled, which leaves the grain open to the touch. Re-oil the busiest areas from time to time to keep it protected.
The 3mm walnut layer on this floor is thick enough to be sanded and re-finished; beneath it, the engineered core resists seasonal movement.
Rooms it suits, and the next step Walnut Herringbone suits period reception rooms and hallways, and it holds its own in a large open-plan kitchen. If you are shortlisting, put Soft White Oak Herringbone and Whitewashed Oak beside it for comparison.
