This version of Golden Oak lays 150mm boards at random lengths, so the end joints fall irregularly and the floor has the relaxed rhythm of a traditional plank floor rather than a regular grid. The golden-amber colour and brushed matt lacquer match the fixed-length boards. It suits cottages, period houses and rooms with lots of corners and doorways, where random lengths help the floor look natural. Golden Oak works over underfloor heating.
It is a 150mm board, wide enough to show the grain of each plank clearly. It is graded classic, so each board shows knots and grain, but none dominates the floor.
The finish, and living with it A floor is its finish as much as its tone: here the brushed matt lacquered treatment sets how Golden Oak handles daily life. Lacquer gives this floor a sealed, low-maintenance surface that needs no re-oiling.
With 3mm of oak on a 14mm engineered board, this floor can be renovated in future and stays stable where solid wood would move.
Rooms it suits, and the next step Golden Oak suits living rooms, kitchens and hallways, the rooms that take the most daily use. Our wide plank flooring in London page shows Golden Oak alongside the other floors in this format. It is part of the Signature Collection. If you are shortlisting, put Walnut Wide Plank and Signature Oak beside it for comparison.
