American Oak Herringbone Rich Walnut is an engineered European oak herringbone block, supplied at 14mm × 90mm × 450mm in prime grade, for a tighter, more uniform look. In tone it reads as a versatile oak tone that works across period and contemporary rooms.

The smoked, oiled finish is easy to live with and can be refreshed or spot-repaired in place rather than fully re-sanded. Suitable for underfloor heating, it is set into a herringbone pattern by our own installation team across London and the South East.

American Oak Herringbone Rich Walnut is the kind of floor you choose by standing on it, not by scrolling past it. It feels like solid oak underfoot, with the dimensional stability of engineered construction underneath. This is a balanced grade with a natural, believable spread of character. The format — 90×450mm herringbone blocks — brings pattern and rhythm that plank floors cannot.

Caring for the surface The natural-finished finish is doing quiet work here: protection first, but tuned so the oak still looks like oak. Oil sits in the timber rather than on it, which makes upkeep local: a scuffed patch takes a rub of maintenance oil, not a whole-room re-sand.

Clean with a wood-floor soap and re-oil high-traffic zones when they start to look thirsty. It is suitable over underfloor heating, and stable through the seasonal swings that trouble ordinary solid timber.

Where to lay it, and how to decide We fit it most often through living spaces, kitchens and hallways — the rooms that have to look good under real use. Herringbone rewards proper setting-out — our herringbone flooring installation in London team lays it to a centred, snapped line, never off a wall. It belongs to the Prime Grade Collection. Not quite the tone you pictured?

American Oak Spring Rye sits close by with a different temperature, and Herringbone Oak Brushed Matt Lacquered takes the Prime Grade Collection in another direction.
