American Oak Character Grade Engineered Wood Flooring

American Oak Character Grade is an engineered European oak floor, supplied at 14mm × 190mm × 1900mm in character grade grade. In tone it reads as a versatile oak tone that works across period and contemporary rooms.

The brushed, hardwax oiled finish is easy to live with and can be refreshed or spot-repaired in place rather than fully re-sanded. Suitable for underfloor heating, it is laid plank by plank by our own installation team across London and the South East.

Some floors photograph well and disappoint underfoot; American Oak Character Grade does the opposite — it gets better the longer you live on it. Underfoot it has the solidity of real oak with the stability engineered construction brings.

This is graded for character: knots, cathedrals and grain swing are left in deliberately, so no two boards repeat. Laid as 190mm wide planks, it makes modest rooms feel wider and calmer.

The finish, and living with it Finish matters as much as colour, and the natural-finished treatment on American Oak Character Grade is chosen for how it ages, not just how it looks on day one. Oil sits in the timber rather than on it, which makes upkeep local: a scuffed patch takes a rub of maintenance oil, not a whole-room re-sand.

Clean with a wood-floor soap and re-oil high-traffic zones when they start to look thirsty. The construction keeps it stable over underfloor heating and through winter-to-summer humidity swings alike.
